Subject: Microphone Pro for NEXTSTEP Promotion ($99)
$99 DEAL ON SOFTWARE VENTURES' MICROPHONE PRO FOR NEXTSTEP
EXTENDED THROUGH JULY 31, 1993 -- ALMOST $300 OFF $395 SRP
Berkeley, Calif., June 3, 1993 Software Ventures Corporation, developer of
the award-winning line of MicroPhone communications software, today announced
that because NEXTSTEP communications users responded so favorably to a special
discount price offer on MicroPhone Pro 1.0 for NEXTSTEP it is extending the
offer through July 31, 1993.
Normally listed at $395, MicroPhone Pro is now just $99, when customers order
through NEXTConnection's mail order service (1-800-800-NEXT). The special
price began in April and was promoted during the recent NEXTWORLD Expo in May,
where NEXT, Inc. introduced its NEXTSTEP operating system for Intel computers.
"Our NeXT sales skyrocketed during the promotion," said Greg Ogarrio,
marketing communications manager for Software Ventures. "Ninety-nine looks
like a magical price point today, it grabs price-conscious users' attention.
With giants like Microsoft and Borland pricing their new products so
aggressively, they're conditioning everyone to expect lower prices, especially
on upgrades and limited-time promotions like ours."
MicroPhone Pro for NEXTSTEP, introduced in September 1992, gives NEXT computer
users a flexible set of tools to transfer data, communicate with remote
computers, build custom scripts and design graphical interfaces. Using
powerful scripting that NeXTWorld magazine called "whiz-bang," MicroPhone Pro
for NEXTSTEP users can automate much of their communications, without having
to memorize log-in and navigation sequences.
MicroPhone Pro for NEXTSTEP implements a comprehensive set of file transfer
protocols to send text, graphics and sound files. Protocols supported include
Text/ASCII, XMODEM, YMODEM, ZMODEM and Kermit. Terminal emulation includes
TTY, VT100, VT102 and VT220. Full TCP/IP support allows users to connect
directly to TCP/IP networks, such as the Internet.
